Sara, Neal and I went down to the Coast Saturday for a little boat show in Toledo. I had hoped to be able to meet George Calkins the designer of the Bartenders. Sadly his age of 96 is begining to catch up with him. He did not feel up to the long drive down from Marrowstone Island. There were 3 Bartenders on display representing each of the 3 standard sizes, 19, 22 and 26. ALTAIR is a very nice example of a 26. Note the graceful curve of the shear line. Damn these are sexy boats! I do hope that REDWING will look as good when she is finished!

The Millenium Falcon Bartender

My shrink wrap skin for the shelter has been back ordered. I am leaving town for 12 days to go sailing on the schooner Martha (see link). The boat is dry now and I want to keep her that way! I looked into buying a tarp that would cover the whole shebang but I just could not bring myself to spend 60 bucks for a temporary cover. I want my $$ to start going into the boat. I had this 12x32 tarp so I made do with a zillion bungies.

We had 4 step ladders going all at once and yes it was quite interesting hanging wayyyyy out off the end to fasten the last trusses.
